The Ukulele Chronicles-Fixed, Yet Not

08/29/2010

So I fixed Darlene the ukulele the other day at a little local music store. So, we expected to just get a new string, but, as it turned out, all the strings needed changing and the nut was coming off. It would take a while, so we were going to go to Starbucks and get some coffee. The guy, who I never got the name of, commented on how he wouldn't mind a coffee, so Mom, being the kind person she is, offered to buy him some. He was about to give us some money to buy it, but we got it for him instead. While Mom went back to give him his coffee, we got hair cuts (well, trims), and it passed the time nicely. When we got back, he'd fixed the strings and the nut and he was tuning it. It's fixed, but not tuned forever. The first two strings are made of Nylon and stretch. They'll need tuning just about every time I play Darlene. It's a tad sad, but it's fine. We've got an electronic tuner somewhere around here...
So I got Darlene and my mom asked for lessons, which I'll be recieving every Friday, and then she asked for the price. Nothing, just the fee for lessons (which is like $100 for a month). So, pretty much, we got an improved Uke for the price of a cup of coffee and four lessons a month for a hundred bucks. I call it a score.
